happy post #1

Many bloggers do weekly posts about what they’ve loved the previous week, what has made them happy or what they’re thankful for - or something like that. I always really enjoy reading these posts, so I’ve decided to start writing similar ones myself. I think it’ll be a great way for me to be more appreciative of the present, since I’ve been feeling a bit lost and downcast recently. And hopefully there are a few readers out there who will enjoy reading these posts and will find them inspiring!

So, the things that I’ve appreciated the latest week are these:

- Living in Europe and being able to travel so very easily, thanks partly to the European Union making things easy and partly to the handy size of Europe. I know I’ve already mentioned it, but it’s something I’m really incredibly thankful for. I feel so lucky to be able to pop off to another country without any fuss. Obviously I can’t actually do this all the time since I haven’t got the money, but I like knowing that I have the opportunity. And thanks to a belated birthday present (my birthday was in January) from my mum (she's way too kind!), I got to go to Berlin with my mum and sister the other week, which was lovely.

- People with whom you stay friends even if you don’t talk for months. Last weekend I met up with a few friends from high school. We all graduated last June and then, last autumn, we all went to different places - half of us overseas. I hadn’t seen any of them since August and since I’m rubbish at staying in touch with people, I hadn’t talked to them a lot either. When we met, however, it was just like before, which I think is amazing. I’m glad I have friends like that.

- Overnight oats. I started working this week (three weeks of summer work) and need to leave the house at 6.45 in the morning, which is early even for me. Preparing my breakfast the night before has made my mornings so much easier, without the quality and deliciousness of my breakfast deteriorating. Genious thing! So far this week I've made it with strawberries & cardamom, pineapple & coconut, and dried apricots & coconut. All delicious.

- Strawberries. I adore all kinds of fruits and berries but strawberries are among my favourites, so I love it when they’re in season. I’ve been buying them every other day recently. I love them best just as they are, but they’re amazing in all kinds of things too. Overnight oats, for example!

What has made you happy recently?

Love, Mimmi.
