liebster award - discover new blogs

The lovely Anna nominated me for the Liebster Award, which was very sweet of her. Thank you, Anna! Personally I love discovering new blogs and I think it's really great how the Liebster Award helps smaller blogs to get seen.

The rules of this award are:
          1. Thank/link the blogger who nominated you.
          2. Give 11 random facts about yourself.
          3. Answer the 11 questions that they have written for you.
          4. Nominate other bloggers with under 200 followers who you believe deserves the award.
          5. Post 11 questions for your nominees to answer & let them know that they have been selected.

11 random facts about myself:
  1. I’m the only one of my grandmother’s (my father’s mother, whom I miss very much) grandchildren who inherited her hazel eyes.
  2. I have scoliosis, and a little over three years ago I had a spinal fusion (arthrodesis) surgery in most of my spine.
  3. I’m a pescetarian, meaning I don’t eat any meat except fish & seafood.
  4. I spent six months in Paris (September’13 to March’14) to learn French and I’m now more or less fluent!
  5. Speaking of languages, I studied Spanish for six years, but can barely speak a word. I do understand a fair bit though, but only if they speak slowly...
  6. I’m a feminist, and really proud of it.
  7. According to Pottermore I’m a Ravenclaw, which I think fits me really well.
  8. I dyed my hair various shades of brown (mostly darker) for a period of almost six years.
  9. …but really I dream of having ginger hair.
  10. I keep a sourdough in the fridge which I started over three years ago. Its name is Rory and it never fails me when baking bread.
  11. I'd love to have my own little café.

Questions from Anna

Describe your dream bathroom
Ooooh, let's see. First of all, it’d be spacious. I think I’d definitely want patterned tiles (in white and blue or white and black) on the floor and perhaps partly on the walls, but the majority of the walls would have white tiles. I’d love to have either a freestanding bathtub in white or one that’s built into the wall so that the sides are also tiled. The sink would be built into the cabinets, and both the sink and the top of the cabinet would be lovely in white/grey marble. The actual cabinets would be either dark brown wood or painted white. Then I’d of course have a large mirror above the sink, with lovely flattering (this is important! haha) lightening. And what to say about the toilet seat? White and as pretty as a toilet seat can be.

If you could buy any one item of clothing from anywhere (money is not an issue) what would it be?
I think I’m definitely going to think of so many more things later, but right now the one thing that popped into my head is a Burberry coat. I adore Burberry and really want to own something from them someday in my life, and on the top of my list is a coat (perhaps a trench?), followed by a bag.

Are you a dog person or a cat person? Why?
Is it cheating to say that I’m both? I really feel like I am, though! My family has had a dog since I was fourteen and I love that little thing to bits. I love how devoted and loving dogs are, but at the same time I love how cats have so much integrity and personality. I think both animals make great company, in different ways, so I'd say I love both for their respective characteristics.

What popular blog inspires you?
I read and love so many blogs, so it feels almost wrong to only mention one, but if I really had to it would be Cider With Rosie. Her blog is precisely the type of blog that I want mine to be. I find every single one of her posts so inspiring, well-written and just plain amazing. Plus, she seems like such a lovely lady!

What book changed your life/ what book do you recommend?
Well, this one is seriously difficult. I think I have to say Harry Potter. I’m a huge potterhead and discovering that world was such a big part of my childhood. My love for those books has only grown stronger over time. I'm ever so grateful to J.K Rowling. But I’m still sad I never got that letter...! Honorary mentions? The Great Gatsby, the Kite Runner, a Thousand Splendid Suns, the Perks of Being a Wallflower, LOTR and the Hobbit.

If you could smooch one actor, who would it be?
Kit Harington. Enough said.

Whatcha eatin’?
I've finished it now (sobs), but when I started putting this post together I was eating frozen banana and cocoa "ice cream" with coconut flakes on top. So delicious!

How do you like your coffee/ tea?
I have my tea plain most of the time but sometimes, if I’m feeling it, I’ll add some milk. When I drink coffee I always have it with a little bit of milk!

What is one goal you have this year?
To make the most out of my university experience! I’m going to try my very best to put myself out there, to make great friends and great memories, while also enjoying the actual studies. I seriously can't wait!

What is something you could not live without? Other than modern technology!
I suppose something means I can’t mention people? Otherwise, I’d definitely choose my family. But seeing as they’re not things, I’ll have to go for books. I almost answered chocolate, but although I'm a chocoholic I think books are actually more important to me, haha.

What is one thing you want to brag about but it seems rude to say anywhere else?
Perhaps that I’ve travelled quite a lot in my lifetime. I’ve visited sixteen-eighteen countries in total (depending on how you count), and some of them twice. I wouldn’t say I want to brag about it, but I feel like a spoiled brat whenever I mention it. It has a lot to do with the fact that my family has always prioritised going abroad a lot; especially my mum. She adores travelling, and I’ve inherited that inclination.

  4. When you were little, what did you dream of being when growing up?

Okay, that's it! Phew, that took a while. If you read all of it, then I applaud you! I'm a bit of a rambler when answering questions...

I hope you're having a good day!

Love, Mimmi
