Cottonrake Bakery

I love bakeries. As much as I love baking myself, there's something really special about going to a bakery and treating yourself to a skilfully baked pastry. There's something about the atmosphere, the smell, too. Simply put, bakeries make me happy. Luckily (or unluckily, depending on how you look at it...), there's the cutest wee bakery just ten - fifteen minutes from the flat, on the way to university. I've been there four times now (two times to celebrate handing in essays), and I'm sure I won't be able to stay away for long.

Cottonrake Bakery is located in the West End of Glasgow, on Great Western Road. It's a quite small place with limited seating, but the atmosphere, the baked goods and the lovely staff really make up for that.

Last time I went, I had a fruit scone with butter and jam and a cup of tea. Their scones are wonderful. So wonderful that I've had a scone three out of four times... I should probably be more adventurous.

The time before that, however, I had a gorgeous sandwich roll with pesto, feta and vegetables, after which my friends and I shared an apple tart, a lemon meringue pie and a brownie, which were all incredibly tasty (especially the brownie). And I'm certain all their other pastries are just as lovely.

Just look at all of those goodies! Don't they just make your mouth water? They've got beautiful bread and really lovely sandwiches as well. If you ever find yourself on Great Western road in Glasgow, make sure to pop by Cottonrake. You won't be disappointed.

Do you have a favourite bakery near you?

Love, Mimmi
