Life, Lately

For this Sunday's post, I thought I'd have a wee look back at what I've been up to during the last couple of weeks, but not talked about on the blog.

This week was my so-called reading week, which meant I didn't have any lectures at all. Instead, many hours have been spent at the library writing essays or reading books for my courses. Oddly enough I don't really mind it. I find everything I'm doing more or less interesting, so studying is not as much of an annoyance as it could've been. Although I do still worry about not doing well enough...

I've walked home from uni and from the library both through rain and sunshine, but always in the presence of beautiful autumn leaves. There is something about autumn that just makes me really happy, despite the rain and the wind, and it's lovely walking back to the flat through autumnal Glasgow.

Last weekend, a friend and I went to see Twin Atlantic here in Glasgow. We were lucky enough to get the tickets for free, as we're both involved in the Glasgow University student magazine Qmunicate, which has a brilliant music editor who is able to get tickets for almost any gig. The only thing I had to do in return was write a review for one of the (both very good) support acts; Nothing But Thieves.
Anyhow, the night was amazing. Twin Atlantic is a brilliant live band, and being part of a crowd that's singing along to every song is a special feeling, especially when you see how touched the band members are.

As a little treat in midst of all the studying, I've had tea or coffee with friends a few times. There's this adorable wee bakery on the way to university, called Cottonrake Bakery, which I've wanted to visit ever since I first saw it. So when I met a flatmate and a friend on the way home one day and they asked me if I wanted to come with them, I simply couldn't say no. And when two other flatmates wanted to go there again later the same week, I went again. Their scones are amazing, especially the fruit ones, and I'm really keen to try out more things, as everything looks absolutely delicious!

The picture on the right is a pumpkin spice latte (my fourth and probably last of the season) that I had when I went into the city centre with a friend a couple of weeks ago. We had a wander around, popped into a few stores and took a break at Starbucks with a PSL each.

My go-to place when I need to move and breathe a little fresh air is Ruchill Park. The other day was beautifully sunny and I decided to bring my camera to practise a wee bit. Apart from photographing leaves (my favourite thing to photograph this time of the year, haha), I also went up to the viewpoint, from which you can see basically the whole city. Since the sun was shining right at me I couldn't get very good photos (meaning I'll have to go up there again sometime soon...), but there's my university in the distance. :)

Other than that, I've also gone out a couple of times with my lovely friends, celebrated Halloween in a last-minute witch costume (if a hat counts as a costume), had about a hundred cups of tea and as many biscuits, and marvelled at how quickly time passes. I cannot believe I've been here for almost two months!

What have you been up to lately? How was your weekend?

Love, Mimmi.
