Last Saturday, I went up bright and early, packed some sandwiches and was picked up by my dad at seven. We headed off to a nearby bird lake (...not sure if that's the correct term in English, hehe) for a few hours of birdwatching. The day was predicted to be cloudy and rainy, but we were treated to a few nice hours before the clouds gathered. We spotted quite a few birds; a hobby, a white-tailed eagle, a few ospreys, a couple of great crested grebes and several warbles (I'm honestly just google translating all of those...). With my little camera, it was impossible to get any good shots of any of them, sadly. On the way back from the main birdwatching area, we wandered for a bit in the woods, and with help of dad's ingenious bird sound app, we lured a chaffinch and then a yellow-hammer closer, so at least I managed to get a couple of okay snaps of those. I had never been birdwatching before, but it was a really lovely experience. I'm a lover of mornings, and to be out and about early to spend a few hours in the quiet and calm of the morning, appreciating the nature and birds around us, was wonderful. If there's one thing I miss about living in the city, it's being so close to nature.

Have you ever been birdwatching?

Love, Mimmi.
