Happy Post #25

Happy Sunday, lovelies! I hope you've all had a lovely August so far, and a great weekend. I was working yesterday, and am working again tomorrow, but hey-ho, that's life. I've only got three weeks left now, so I'm powering through! Here are a few things that have made me happy over the past couple of weeks....

Having days off mid-week. Since the start of August, we've had to take turns working weekends at my work, which of course isn't that much fun, but the great thing about it is that you get a day off mid-week instead. Like last Thursday, when I went to Edinburgh. I love having days off mid-week - it feels like such a treat, somehow, to not work when most people are! Even if it means having to work a Saturday...

Sunshine. Now, this summer has been pretty rubbish, but that has only made me appreciate the sunshine so much more, and there have been some lovely days, especially over the last couple of weeks! Luckily my day off last week was gorgeous, and that was spent largely wandering around outside. A lot of the time I've been stuck in an office when the sun has shown itself, but I've had the chance to enjoy the sunshine on my lunch break and when walking to and from work, which is at much better than nothing!

My sister. I am so thankful that I have family in the same country. My sis is my best friend and confidante, and I love being able to see her regularly and chatting to her about both fun and and less fun stuff.

New jeans. This is a bit of an odd one, perhaps, but these posts are all about the little things, aren't they? I've always been one for skirts - especially skater skirts -  and with the exception of black skinny jeans, I haven't worn actual jeans in probably five years. Since my trusty black jeans were faded to grey I decided to get a new pair, and at the same time I decided to pick up a pair of dark blue jeans... and I love them! As a result of two pair of new jeans, my skirts have been spending an awful lot of time in the drawers lately...

Indian food. Last Saturday my sister and I had dinner at Mother India as a treat after I had helped her move to a new temporary room, and the week before that I went out with my co-workers to an Indian restaurant in Stirling to say goodbye to a girl who was leaving us. A whole lot of Indian food for two weeks, in other words! Indian is one of my favourite cuisines, so having excuses to eat it is pretty great. Is anyone else slightly addicted to peshwari naan?

Catching up on skype with a close friend. I've never liked speaking on the phone, but since moving abroad Skype has become a necessity, because sometimes you need to speak with your friends and family, rather than just send messages. Earlier this week I had a long chat with my friend Alice, which was really lovely. We hadn't talked properly in a couple of months, and it was so nice to speak with her again!

And finally, here are five blog posts that I've enjoyed reading recently:

'Friendship' on Britton Loves.

'Travel | The Turtles of Argostoli' on Daydreams of Summertime.

'An Escape' on Tori's Tales.

'Underrated' on Bluebell & Bumpkin.

What has made you happy recently?

Love, Mimmi.
