This weekend I headed off to Linlithgow, which is a little town near Edinburgh, to visit my friend Heather. We hadn't seen each other since May, so it was really lovely to get to catch up and just hang out! We had also been planning my visit for forever, so I'm so glad it finally happened! Heather was the perfect hostess and guide, and had planned lots of things to do over the weekend. I arrived just after ten on Saturday morning, and after leaving my bags and having a cup of tea at the house, we headed out for a walk around the beautiful Linlithgow Loch, through the lovely town and past Linlithgow Palace. The Palace used to be one of the principal residences for monarchs in Scotland in the 15th and 16th centuries, and Mary Queen of Scots was even born there!

We then had lunch at Heather's before heading out again, this time to the Falkirk Wheel (fourth picture down), which is a rotating boat lift that connects two canals. It's the only one of its kind in the world, and it was really fascinating to see it in action! After that, we headed to the Kelpies, which are located near Falkirk. I've wanted to see the Kelpies for such a long time, so I'm really glad I finally got the chance! They are incredible. Photos really don't do them justice. Because it felt so summery, we had to have ice cream, but soon enough the day turned really chilly and we headed to a café for a much-needed caffeine kick before we went to Nando's for dinner. I had never been to Nando's before (shock horror), but now I definitely understand why everyone loves it! I had a bean burger pita and some sweet potato fries, and it was all delicious. Stuffed and content, we headed back to get some rest before going to the pub for a couple of hours. The adventures continued on Sunday, but I'll save that for another day.

What did you get up to last weekend?

Love, Mimmi.
